I hate to love Sundays! It is a great day to rest, clean up and cook. BUT it’s the last day of the weekend before work. I was up early as usual, at 6:30am. Since I have to get up so early for work, it has spilled over into my weekends. UGH! On the bright side, I get up earlier and get a lot done. This morning I scanned my cookbooks and my recipe box to see what I would like to make this week. On Friday after work I had stopped at the meat market to pick up a few goodies. I got a sirloin steak, a couple pounds of ground beef, cube steaks and smoked wild rice brats.
This morning, we ran to Cub Foods to get a few more ingredients so I could get home and get started. I cut up my sirloin and put it in a fondue marinade. I put the meat in the freezer so it can absorb the marinade for more flavor. I can’t wait to eat it! π
Next, not that I need them but I decided to make chocolate chip cookies. While making them all I could think of was the episode of Friends where Phoebe had a fire in her apartment and they lost her grandmother’s cookie recipe. However, she had a few cookies left in a bag in the freezer and Monica decided she could re-make them. Phoebe’s grandmother said it was some special french recipe and pronounced it with a french accent. Through the episode it comes out that the recipe is from the back of the chocolate chip bag and there was really nothing special about it. You have to find the episode, it’s funny! π
Tonight for supper we are going to have the smoked wild rice brats. Yum!
When we went to Cub Foods, I wanted to stop at Caribou Coffee to get the mint tea. For you tea lovers this is a great time. There is 20 tea bags and it is only $6.99. I unfortunately, don’t get to Caribou much anymore, so now I can at least have the tea at home! π
Must Try, you will be addicted! π
I had a productive Sunday too. I made veggie burgers, biscotti and a massive lamb broth. Delicious!
Wow, all of it sounds good. How did you make your veggie burgers?
Uhm Sweetie you forgot to mention Sunday is a day for church too…not just resting. *grin*
Sounds like a great Sunday!
