After running our errands on Saturday, I decided I wanted to try the Wild Rice Hotdish recipe a colleague from work (Vicki) gave me to try. I know “Hotdish” sounds so Midwestern. It was so good and so easy to make.
I started dishing up before I remembered to take the picture. oops. 🙂
Here is the recipe-
1 box (original recipe) of Uncle Ben’s Wild Rice with seasoning packet (not the quick cooking)
1 lb. browned hamburger
1 cup sliced carrots
1 cup sliced celery
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can of chicken with rice soup
2 cans of water
Mix all together and bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.
– What I did a little different, I added more wild rice of what I had in the pantry and then I did two cups of carrots, Carl’s not a fan of celery. It was really good. Carl added Tabasco sauce to his second helping.
For the last week or so I had been thinking of what treats can I make for work that are gluten free so I can eat them. While my hotdish was baking I made chocolate scotcheroos. I used the new gluten free rice krispies they just came out with, for the peanut butter I used Mara Natha All Natural No Stir peanut butter (also gluten free) and I used All Natural Ghirardelli Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips. They turned out awesome! 🙂
I want both of those, right now…please and thank you!
