Happy Memorial Day– today is about our Veterans who have served our Country to allow us to have the freedom we have today. God Bless them and their families.
We did not have much planned for the extended weekend because we were unsure what the weather was going to do.
Friday– was a good weather day, we stopped by my brothers house to see him and his family. My nephew is the sweetest ever, he was running into his room to get a book and then would ran back into the living room and I would have to read to him, I ended up reading 5 books. It was precious time I enjoyed with him.
Saturday– the weather was questionable. It was 9:30am in the morning and it looked like 9:30pm at night because the sky was so dark-storm was brewing. Saturday morning I traveled to St. Paul to speak to a Juvenile Girls Weekend Learning Center. I was there for four hours, speaking about Victim Impact. I must say that was one of the best groups I have facilitated, it challenged me as a professional and a facilitator. It was a great group of girls, so when I was done I felt it was worth my time to be there. We did our grocery shopping- we got lots of goodies (steak, corn on the cob, fresh fruit and shrimp) then we stopped by our friends’ house to see my brother and his two friends, which is never dull. 🙂
Sunday– we had met Carl’s parents in Stillwater, MN. It was the best day out of the weekend, pretty hot and humid but the weather was perfect for sitting on a patio for lunch and walking around. We had lunch at the Freight House, which was perfect under an umbrella with a light breeze. After eating lunch and catching up we walked the main street of Stillwater and stopped in many of the shops. I found a beautiful rug for our front entry way. We were working our way down to the winery. 🙂
The rug I bought.
The colors of the rug are perfect with our dining room and living room.
We stopped at Northern Vineryards, where we had a bottle of Oktoberfest wine (the wine semi-sweet and crisp) and sat on the rooftop to enjoy the view of the St. Croix River and all the boat traffic. When we were done we walked back and grabbed ice cream then we were on our way home before the storm hit.
Here is a picture from the rooftop of the Winery- the Stillwater Lift bridge.
We had a wonderful time time with Carl’s parents. 🙂
Today we do not have much planned, cleaning up and then seeing what the day will bring. We will be having our steak and corn on the cob tonight-yum!
Happy Memorial Day!
