Bittersweet

At the beginning of January we had a dear family friend pass away, he was 96 years old. We went to his wife’s funeral a few years back, she passed at 89 years old. He and his wife had been married for about 70 years. I thought of this couple as another set of grandparents for me, They sold their family farm to my Pa, we kept the land to farm crops. We will call him Grandpa B, he loved the farm so much that he continued to drive tractor for my Pa, until we sold the farm and moved.

One of my fondest memories is when he would come back to our house from the other farm with the tractor, he always had a cooler that always had a cold bag of M&M’s for me.

As I set out to drive to the funeral, I was driving through my old hometown where I grew up and spent the first 16 years of my life. I drove past our old family farm.

Here are a few photos of my drive and the landscape. It was a bittersweet feeling.

I am so glad that my Pa and I were able to go to the funeral and pay our respects to the family.

  1. Great memories. Glad we still own the Becker farm. I am happy that the person that bought our house and hog barns are using them to raise pigs.
