December 2013

December has arrived loud and clear with snow and freezing temperatures. The first weekend of December was the 3rd Annual Ugly Sweater Party. It was another Epic night. I will get a few pictures and share. I am so lucky to have a great group of friends and we have all come together from different walks of life and we click like we have known each other for years.

Carl and I got our Christmas tree this week and we got it up and decorated.

Christmas_Tree_2013 It’s a little odd shaped but we’ll keep it! 🙂

On the side notI have been craving a good mac and cheese that is gluten free of course. Well, I found a good recipe and Carl gave it two thumbs up.

Homemade_Mac_Cheese the picture is my picture.

The recipe is from the Sartori Cheese Facebook page. They make fantastic cheese.

Here is the recipe:

8 oz. elbow macaroni
5 tablespoons of butter
3 tablespoons of flour
½ teaspoon of sea salt
1 cup of whole milk
½ cup of Mascarpone
½ cup of Black Pepper BellaVitano®
1 cup of shredded cheddar (mild)
½ cup of GruyereTopping:
½ cup of breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon parsley flakes
1 wedge of SarVecchio® Parmesan (finely shredded)Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. In a large pot of boiling water, cook the pasta to al dente. While pasta is cooking, in a separate sauce pan, melt the butter. Whisk in flour and salt. Slowly pour in whole milk and mascarpone, stirring constantly. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring for about 2-3 minutes. Reduce heat and let mixture simmer for 8-10 minutes. Slowly stir in Black Pepper BellaVitano®, cheddar and Gruyere. Fold the macaroni into the cheese sauce and pour into a greased, 3 quart casserole dish. Top with breadcrumbs and parsley flakes. Bake in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Top the dish with SarVecchio® Parmesan and wait five minutes before serving.

I highly recommend this recipe, super easy to make and tasted great.
Happy Christmas and eating.

Goodbye 2012, Welcome 2013…

Well, I am a bit delayed (yes, ha-ha) with my posts; that is what the holidays and a 163 hour training will do at the end of the year. I will catch you all up a bit, so please be patient with my amounts of posts! You will get a little of everything.

We had a great holiday season filled with lots of love, laughter, joy and wine of course. After almost 5yrs of being together we have our system down with seeing family around Christmas time. We do Christmas Eve church and dinner with Carl’s family and then on Christmas Day we travel to my parents house for a late dinner. So because this year was on weird days, we opened our gifts at home so then we didn’t have to pack them with us. I got some pretty awesome gifts. Here are a a few pictures of them.

Carl made me a calendar of Arie, 1 for my office and 1 for home.

Carl got me the crockpot I wanted from Target. I love the clamps.

Then I got a beautiful pair of earrings and a bracelet. 🙂 potterypresent

I had to share this awesome gift from Carl’s sister. It is a two piece pottery set. It is a small bowl that sits in the base. You can put ice in the base to keep whatever you put in the bowl cold. I love it. She also got us a few other pottery pieces that are so cool. I may need to stop at the store she went to.

I had gotten carl a few shirts and a jacket from Eddie Bauer and then the best gift was Whiskey. It is called Templeton Rye a Prohibition whiskey. I also got his dad a bottle as well because it has a cool story behind it.

We had a busy, fun and fast Christmas.

Now That’s Ugly…

My friend Natasha and I exchanged gifts a few weeks back and she was talking about her holiday party, which lead to ugly sweater talk. I opened my big mouth and said “I should make mine.” bad idea! Natasha kept telling me I should and it would look hilarious.

Well one night we went to Michaels craft store and to Target to gather my ugly materials. Well here ya go!

My supplies, the before picture!

My stuff from Michaels.

My stuff from Target.

The after picture! It looks a little ridiculous, but of course that is the point!

Happy Ugly Sweater Season! 🙂

Here are a few photos from the Holiday Party.

Carl and I at the party! My ugly sweater was a hit. 🙂

Me and the lovely Hostess with the Mostest! 🙂 Great party!

Tis’ the Season

I love Christmas and this year it didn’t take much for me to get into the season. We have our tree up and decorated and other decorations throughout the house. It is cozy.

Last night we ran to the Mall of America to start/finish some Christmas shopping. 🙂 I had some good coupons. It was so pretty all decorated for the season. There was a live band playing Christmas songs and the huge trees in the Rotunda. I must say we were in and out of the mall in less then 40 minutes. 🙂

Then on our way home we stopped to look at a tree outside completely covered in LED lights. It is so bright you can see it from a ways a way. It is so cool up close.

Then we ran to Michaels craft store, I decided I am going to make my holiday sweater! What who does that?! 🙂 I do!

We stopped at Target so I could get my red sweater! And this is what we found. Yup, they are making the footies for adults! The sock monkey one was pretty funny!

I don’t want to reveal the pictures yet. I will soon so stay tuned! 🙂

Happy Holidays!

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree… :)

And the excitement begins! What more do you need than getting a Christmas tree and decorating it to get you in the mood for Christmas. The cold weather and icky drizzle did not stop us from getting a tree. I have been waiting at least two weeks to get a tree. I felt like a kid in a candy store! So of course, I have to share the fun we had today getting our tree!

We were able to pick our tree and get it home in about 30 mins! Pretty good I think. We had went to Menards to get it, my mom told me a Fraiser Fir because is a good tree. So we picked out a 7ft one.

I wanted to name him and Carl came up with Fraiser! (how original right!)  This is him in the trunk riding home. 🙂

Me and Fraiser, we have to let the branches fall!

Our fun decorations we had picked out for our tree.

Fraiser before, looks kind of naked…

Fraiser all dressed up in his best! 🙂

We had so much fun decorating our tree, I am in the Christmas mood. We had even watched the movie Elf and Four Christmas’ while we decorated.

I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend and getting into the holiday spirit!

All Stuffed, Literally!

Wow! Thanksgiving never fails, I always eat so much and can’t stop. Carl and I traveled northward to my parents house to celebrate with my family, which consists of Ma and Pa, 7 kids, 4 significant others (one was missing), 5 grandkids and 6 dogs. My parents make our turkey on a Holland grill with great seasoning, it’s so delicious. They actually make two turkeys so all of us kids have leftovers to take home. 🙂 My mom had made Pioneer Woman’s potatoes and stuffing, then she had Rachel Ray’s stuffing, yes two stuffings! Delicious.  My sister made a lettuce salad, my other sister made sweet potatoes and We had delicious bread. Needless to say, there was no shortage of food. I didn’t even mention all the mouth watering desserts. 🙂 After eating the guys did dishes and then it was the  pre-programmed nap time! After nap time we sat around and enjoyed each other’s company, watched football and scoped out all the store ads. I believe my mom and younger sister went shopping at midnight, I was sleeping like a baby. However, Carl and I did get up at 6:20am and went to a few stores.

Here are a few pictures! 🙂

This is what my parent’s driveway looks like when we are all home.

My parent’s beautiful Christmas tree! 🙂

I also got these awesome ear muffs! They are made out of Coyote fur!

This is sound bar Carl got. It is sitting on the mantle.

My older sister and I take our niece and nephews each year and do a “kids day” with them versus gifts, it’s more memorable! 🙂 We had went to a play place with bumper carts, lazer tag, mini golf, an arcade and a play zone. Then we got ice cream after. We really liked lazer tag, it was a lot of fun!

Now, Carl and I are home relaxing, upacking and putting stuff away. Tomorrow we will be getting our Christmas tree. I can’t wait! 🙂 I will get pictures up as soon as possible!

Hope you all had a wonderful Turkey Day and ate a lot!

It’s That Time of Year!

Well it’s that time of year. 🙂

I was in the store last night waiting to pick up my medicine from the doctor. I had to wait 20 mins, that’s not good because I was so hungry. Oh No! (I always tell Carl I am starvin marvin.) I walked around and I found the Christmas Countdown Calendar. I got one for Carl a couple years ago and thought another one would be fun for him. He does not have to share the chocolate with me! 🙂 I picked up my own chocolate.

Tis’ the season! 🙂

The “In Thing”!

For a while now, I have noticed that anything involving feathers is the “In Thing”! I have seen feather earrings, necklaces, head pieces and even trees! I have been looking for peacock feather earrings for months. I wanted the right shape and size. They have been really hard to find.

I had Friday off for Veterans Day.

God Bless all who have served, past, present and future. Thank for being so brave to ensure our freedom. Thank You to your families as well!

I had a physical therapy appointment and a few errands to run. I was looking for just a couple of long sleeve shirts and a pair of nice khakis. Well I found the shirts at Gap but no pants. (I hate pants shopping) Apparently they are not in season. I stumbled upon the store Gordmans. 🙂 How exciting. I didn’t care much for the clothes but the housewares/domestic sections were fun to browse. I loved looking at all the Christmas decorations. I also went to Pier 1 Imports, what a fun store as well. I had self control and stuck to my list. 🙂 Then I got home and waited for my younger sister to arrive. We had a wonderful weekend with her. We had went to a few stores on Saturday and went Christmas decoration shopping. All we have left to get is our tree! Can’t wait.

While we were bumming around on Saturday we went to The Buckle. (I really like the store, but for as little fabric you get with the clothing and how much it costs is a little crazy. Still like the store though) And there it was that caught my eye! FEATHER EARRINGS! They weren’t exactly the ones I had been looking for but still pretty cute! I wanted to share with you what they look like!

Also, here is a picture of our lighted garland on the loft railing.

Have a good evening!

Great Finds!

This morning we had planned to run errands at Target to get groceries for the week and a few other odds and ends. Well, of course the Halloween stuff is all marked 70% off and then across the aisle is the Christmas decorations. In Carl’s words, “They did their job and hooked you in.” I couldn’t resist and had to get these cute trees.

They had all different colors. Carl liked these two. Now I just have to get my lights and garland for the railings.

After Target we ran home, unloaded the groceries and ran to the mall to exchange the cook book I got for my birthday for a different one. We had one similar to it already. We found a great cookbook and I also got two more cereal bowls to match my set.

Here is the cookbook-

The recipes look great! Can’t wait to try them and use my new flat whisk!

Then we went to Teavana because I had to get another tin to store my fruit tea Carl got me and I wanted to get another loose leaf tea strainer for my mug.

Here is a picture of the tin and strainer I got. I got sucked in and ended up buying a new tea tumbler. Score because it holds more and it is less work with doing the loose leaf! 🙂

Then I stopped at DSW to see if there was a cute pair of black flat shoes for work. I have been wearing my heels, which hurts after so many times. I found a cute pair. I think they look kind of grandma like. But they are comfortable and cute.

We did our Mall run in less than an hours time! 🙂 Quick like a cat.

Also, I will be posting a couple of wines that I bought! 🙂

Now to sit and watch football and enjoy the day.

– Cheers
